EFL Teacher
As an EFL Teacher you will work to a Principal Teacher who in turn will be responsible to the Assistant Director of Studies and Director of Studies. Day to day management responsibility will then be via the Centre Manager, MELHC Manager and the Director of Enterprises. The Director of Studies has overall responsibility for professional leadership of all academic staff.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Safeguarding children is the responsibility of all members of Millfield staff.
b. Being a member of the teaching team delivering 15 hours per week of English lessons during the mornings and early afternoons, your teaching timetable will vary according to campus requirements. You will work on an English programme as designated by the Director of Studies considering your skills and experience.
c. Additional 3 hours teaching per week in afternoons on a rota basis delivering English Workshops.
d. Liaising with your co-teacher and line manager to prepare a cohesive scheme of work relevant to both the syllabus and student needs.
e. Ensuring the maximum use of the Learning Notebook.
f. Keeping detailed records of student attendance and reporting any absences via the approved route.
g. Keeping detailed class profiles, student progress and records of lessons taught.
h. Reporting any concerns about class dynamics to your line manager.
i. Delivering Friday and Saturday morning English focussed activities as required (residential staff only).
j. Assisting with the delivery of student feedback questionnaires.
k. Writing comprehensive and personalised student reports at the end of their course in liaison with your co-teacher.
l. Ensuring you leave your classroom secure and tidy after use, returning any borrowed equipment and reporting any damage to your line manager.
m. Attending all academic meetings.
n. Being available to be observed during class time at times agreed with the Director of Studies.
o. Attend at least one professional development session per week and help deliver these if your experience is appropriate.
p. Giving feedback and taking part in an exit interview.
OTHER DUTIES:
a. If working as a residential member of staff, you will assist Houseparents with pastoral duties and help with social activities on a rota basis.
b. Acquainting yourself with all relevant fire, health and safety arrangements whether during lessons, during the activity programme or in the House, and both on and off the campus.
c. You are to report as soon as possible to your line manager any matters (real or apparent) of unprofessional behaviour on the part of staff and of indiscipline, misbehaviour, major complaint, accident or personal problem among the student body.
d. You will be representing the good name of Millfield School so, both on and off site, you will be expected to behave in a manner that is expected of someone in care of minors at all times.
e. You will lead by example and take an active part in school life to ensure the students have a memorable and rewarding summer.
f. You are to participate in the staff induction.
g. You will perform any other duties that your line manager sees fit providing that such duties are appropriate to your role.

Principal/Senior EFL Teacher

As a Principal / Senior EFL Teacher you will work to the Assistant Director of Studies and Director of Studies. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Safeguarding children is the responsibility of all members of Millfield staff.
b. Leading and being a member of the teaching team on a campus delivering a maximum of 15 hours of morning English lessons per week. Your teaching timetable will vary according to business needs.
c. Assisting with the preparation of students for Trinity GESE examinations communicating with other Principal and Senior Teachers ensuring that they have accurate and timely information.
d. Assisting the Assistant Director of Studies with allocating students to classes and monitoring the classes, dealing with problems as they arise.
e. Being available and visible throughout lesson time to respond to teaching issues and provide support, including team teaching and giving teachers the opportunity to observe you.
f. Maintaining a high profile, visiting classes daily interacting with students and teachers.
g. Ensuring the maximum use of the Learning Notebook by teachers in your team.
h. Assisting your teaching team to prepare a cohesive scheme of work relevant to both the syllabus and student needs.
i. Ensuring teachers keep detailed absence records and following up any issues related to missing students.
j. Supporting teachers with lesson planning and other teaching related problems, raising concerns with the Director of Studies in a timely and professional manner.
k. Carrying out informal teaching observations as requested by the Assistant Director of Studies, providing feedback and keeping records. Liaising with those responsible for formal observations to provide ongoing teacher development.
l. Providing cover for absent teachers and facilitating peer observations as requested by the Assistant Director of Studies.
m. Investigating complaints and concerns as requested by the Director of Studies.
n. Ensuring that teachers provide detailed class profiles and records of work done.
o. Liaising with your teachers to ensure the provision of high-quality student reports at the end of their course, as well as checking the reports for accuracy and appropriateness.
p. Ensuring teachers leave their classrooms secure and tidy after use, return any borrowed equipment and report any damage by checking classrooms on a weekly basis and at the end of the course.
q. Attending all academic meetings and leading the morning briefing meetings for your teaching team.
r. Delivering and attending professional development sessions identified from informal and formal observations and as requested by the Assistant Director of Studies.
s. Receiving and acting on feedback, including appraisals and exit interviews, from your students and teaching team.

Benefits
Alongside a competitive salary, we offer free accommodation (for residential courses), food and laundry facilities. When off-duty staff are also able to use the facilities which include a gym, tennis courts and sports halls (facilities vary per campus). We have a clear management structure in place with induction training (paid pro rata) and a full support system during the courses.
Course Dates, Contracts and Time Off
Staff receive a weekly salary on a contract up to six weeks in length between the dates of 8th July and 19th August.
All teaching staff will have one full day and one half day off per week. There will also be time off during other days. Teaching staff will be expected to work a total of 42 hours per week.
Special requests for additional days off are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Compulsory Induction Training
To ensure that our staff have a full understanding of their role and how it works within the wider structure of the courses, all staff must attend the induction training which takes place prior to the start of the courses (paid pro rata). Not only does it make staff feel more comfortable within their role, it improves efficiency, and most importantly will ensure staff are equipped to provide the best possible care for our students.
Prior to the induction all staff will be required to complete online training courses in Prevent, Safeguarding and Health & Safety.

Overseas applicants are required to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct from their country of residence. Interview Process
Shortlisting will be based on the selection criteria for the role and compared against the information contained within the candidate's application form; this will assess the candidate's availability, qualifications, skills, experience, knowledge, aptitudes and abilities. The capability of the individual to perform in the position will be the major factor and in certain roles the ability to work with others will be taken into account.
At least one individual conducting the interview, which may be either in person or via Microsoft Teams must have completed Safer Recruitment in Education Training. Candidates will be asked both technical/competency based questions as well as questions that attest to the match of the Person Specification in the Job Description. If the interview is conducted via Microsoft Teams, candidates must have their video camera switched on throughout.
The interview team will ensure that candidates with a disability or special needs are fully provided for at the interview, providing notification has been made in advance.
