Millfield Swim School
Millfield Swim School offers a variety of swimming lessons for children and adults, each tailored to build confidence in the water. Learning to swim is important for several reasons and mastering this skill at a young age will be beneficial throughout life.
OUR FACILITIES
Our Swimming Pools
Our Swimming Pool Complex comprises of an eight lane 50m swimming pool (which can also be set to two sets of 25m), a small pool, a large balcony with fitness equipment for land based training, tiered seating for approximately 600 people and changing rooms.
The main pool has competition diving blocks, anti-wave lane ropes, an electronic timing system (Quantum) and deck level to sides with raised bulk heads on both ends. The temperature is maintained at around 28.5°C
The small pool is 13.1m x 8.0m x 1.0m in size and can be made into 3 lanes for swim down or used for rehab or swimming lessons.
Swimming lessons for lower stages will be predominantly held in the small pool and when children are confident and capable, can move into the main pool all with guidance and support of our qualified swimming teachers.
Changing Facilities
There are male and female changing rooms for under 18s, male and female changing rooms for over 18s and an accessible changing room. The changing rooms comprise of toilets and showers.

At Millfield Swimming Pool, our team of highly qualified & passionate swim instructors are experts at providing lessons for children with no upper age limit and identifying children’s levels of ability and adapting activities to the individual, nurturing confidence and encouraging natural ability.

Class Structure
The lesson plans are full of fun activities, some done individually and some as a group.
How long are lessons?
Our classes are 25 minutes long, the optimum amount of time that children of all ages able to concentrate and can handle the physical workout. These classes take place on weekday evenings between 15.45 and 21:00 (Term time only).
How big are the classes?
The lessons have a maximum of 6 children per class and are run by staff fully qualified with a Swimming England swimming teacher or equivalent qualification.
1:1 LESSONS
A fantastic experience that fast-tracks your progress, provides further support to build confidence while learning water safety and most importantly having fun.
ADULT & TODDLER
As a parent, grandparent or guardian, you can join your little one in the pool and have fun sharing their first splashes while helping them gain confidence in the water.
CRASH COURSES
Staged crash courses are an excellent way for children to build their confidence in the water while get extra help to improve stroke technique and progress more quickly.
LEARN TO SWIM LESSONS
Part of the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway, this popular course helps children will develop their confidence in the water while progressing their swimming skills in weekly lessons.
SMALL GROUP SESSIONS
Our small class sizes of no more than six allow our swim teachers to provide an extra level of attention and support to children to ensure they develop their swimming skills correctly.
ADULT SESSIONS
Adult sessions are open to those aged 18+. Whether you're a complete beginner, to improve your stroke technique, stamina, or overall ability, we have classes for everyone.

The pool is the ideal place for your little one to develop their social interaction as they play with other babies in the class. It's also a brilliant way for you to meet other like-minded parents too!
