Former MELHC student reflects on his Millfield experience

Former Millfield English Language Holiday Course student, Toghrul, loved our course so much that he returned three years in a row (2016-2019).

We caught up with Toghrul to reflect on his experiences and he said ‘My first Millfield trip was back in 2016. It was a spontaneous yet one of the best decisions that my family made. It was also my first time visiting the UK, so I was very excited and curious to explore.’

‘From the first couple of days, I absolutely loved this place. I was particularly surprised by how good the sports facilities and disciplines were at Millfield. I felt like those 3-4 hours of sports every weekday was an amazing addition to our schedule, which makes Millfield stand out among hundreds of prestigious language holiday courses in the UK. However, that was not what made me want to come back to Millfield repeatedly.’

Many of our students return year after year, which was the same for Toghrul, ‘After my first time at Millfield, I met many interesting people I keep in touch with up to this day. That amiable environment was exactly the reason why I decided to come back next year, and I never regretted it!’

‘By the 3rd summer in a row that I spent at Millfield, my English level and experience with the school were enough to apply for the mentorship program offered by MELHC. I gained a lot of crucial experience by mentoring in 2018 and 2019 and, hopefully, made a great addition to the experience of other students at Millfield.’

Toghrul is currently studying Engineering at KU Leuven. It’s so rewarding hearing about past student accounts and we wish him the best of luck with his next venture.
