Millfield were honoured to host Double Olympic Medallist Susannah Townsend MBE as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day and to announce a brand new hockey camp in partnership with her this summer.
Susannah recently retired from playing professional hockey where she represented Great Britain & England 188 times over her twelve-year career winning an Olympic Gold medal in Rio 2016 and Bronze in Tokyo 2021.
Her visit was also commemorated by National Girls and Women in Sports Day, acknowledging the accomplishments of female athletes, recognising the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honouring the progress and continuing struggle for equality for women in sports. Susannah is recognised as a driver for the successful growth of women’s sports worldwide and in 2017 was awarded MBE for her contribution to the sport. During her visit, the former Olympian met the Millfield Prep Girl Hockey team and spoke about her inspiring career and achievements during her time in International Hockey.
The Millfield Hockey Camps with Susannah Townsend are led by her coaching philosophy and values aiming to inspire and develop players through innovative and intimate technical pitch sessions, strength & conditioning, nutritional talks and much more.
The Camps are available to book now for ages 5 to 17 in our Junior & Senior Camp from 31st July to 2nd August 2023 and 7th August to 11th August 2023 respectively.
