Team GB Olympian to join the Millfield coaching team for Swim Camps

This August children attending our Swim Camps at Millfield School in Street will have a unique opportunity to train with Team GB Olympian Jazz Carlin.

Swimmers will benefit from all the tools that Jazz has learnt and experienced during her extensive swimming career, with accolades of Double Olympic Silver Medalist, Commonwealth Gold Medalist, four times European Champion and European and British Record Holder.

Jazz will be joining the Millfield coaching team for the courses to help swimmers achieve their goals with support, advice and unique training plans.

Millfield has an historic reputation for coaching outstanding swimmers; Millfield has been the training ground for 24 Olympians including Duncan Goodhew, Mark Foster and James Guy, who recently won a gold medal for the 4x200m freestyle relay at the Tokyo Olympics. Out of a total of 13 former students taking part in this year’s Olympic Games, six are competing in swimming events. Alongside Guy, Kieran Bird, Brodie Williams, Suzanna Hext (paralympics), Muis Ahmad and Danilo Rosafio were all selected to compete, which is the largest number of swimmers the school has ever seen at an Olympic Games.

Jazz is looking forward to the camps which are taking place in August, “I'm so excited to be part of the coaching team for the swim camps. I am passionate about being able to support the next generation of athletes on their sporting journeys by using the skills and knowledge I've learnt during my sporting career.

“As a team, we will be aiding swimmers in improving their training both inside and outside of the pool and having lots of fun along the way. I can't wait to be back poolside and helping to shape the stars of the future.”

Other members of the coaching team for the camps includes Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist Lauren Quigley and Rhys Shorney, the current lead physiotherapist for Swim Wales, having been part of the GB and Welsh swimming support team since 2009.

This star line-up facilitates a comprehensive training plan for swimmers with skills focus swimming sessions, strength and conditioning workshops, pre and post pool activities, a nutrition seminar and a Q&A with the team.

With a residential offer available, the camps can be enjoyed by swimmers nationwide, and are open to children aged 10-17 who currently swim at club level or above.
